Trustees Approve Grants to Tappan Lake VFD and Norma Johnson Center

The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Foundation Board of Trustees approved grants to the Tappan Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the Norma Johnson Center Foundation at its quarterly Board meeting. The Trustees approved a grant in the amount of $3,000 to the Tappan Lake Volunteer Fire Department to support the acquisition of a mechanical, automated CPR device. The automated CPR device provides uninterrupted chest compressions to victims suffering cardiac arrest.
The Norma Johnson Center Foundation was awarded $1,000 to add electrical service to three facilities at the Norma Johnson Center outside of Dover. The NJC Foundation is seeking matching grant monies from the Timken Foundation of Canton and Frontier Power to finance the remainder of the project. The new electrical service will enhance environmental education and permit year-round programming at the NJC facilities.
The MWCF is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to supporting the missioin of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District. While the MWCF is completely independent from the MWCD, with its own Board of Trustees, it has developed charitable funds that support improvements and programs on and around MWCD facilities. Since 2004, the MWCF has awarded over $300,000 for 70 projects throughout the Muskingum River Watershed.
